Era

This little touch of paradise is a bay of 800m wide, broken into two beaches. The surf club is located on South Era beach where a thriving shack community is located. A visit to the area is like going through a time warp, with some of the old shacks existing from the earlier part of the 20th century. Era is only accessible by walking, either from the Garawarra car park near the rangers station, or via the coastal walk from Garie Beach.

While inviting for a swim, Era is broken into generally two or three rips on each beach and there is often a large surf running. Permanent rips run out along each headland, which are to be avoided. Swimming is recommended on the Southern beach between the flags where lifesavers on weekends, or locals can keep an eye on you.
