• SLSS assisting in flood stricken communities in Western Sydney

Mar 23, 2021 By Surf Live Saving Admin

Monday 22 March, Surf Life Saving Sydney was tasked to assist with rescues in flood stricken communities in Western Sydney.

So far, lifesavers from Bronte Surf Life Saving Club and Wanda Surf Life Saving Club, as well as Duty Officers from SLSS Support Operations Group have conducted operations in support of the NSW SES and other Emergency Services.

Tuesday 23 March, IRB Strike Teams from Bondi Surf Club, Bronte Surf Life Saving Club, South Maroubra SLSC, Wanda Surf Life Saving Club, Duty Officers from SLSS Support Operations Group will conduct further rescue operations in these areas around Blacktown and Windsor. Our Duty Officers will also be installed as Liaison Officers at Emergency Operations Centres in the area. Logistics and Operational Support is also being provided by the Surf Life Saving Sydney Lifesaving Executive.

All other SLSS Clubs and Support Operations Services are on standby and ready to assist if further support is required to help those in need in our community.

This is on top of our normal patrolling commitments, and our 24/7 Operational Response Capability to assist in coastal emergencies.

We are incredibly proud of our membership who have volunteered, and taken time off their work commitments today, tomorrow and as this dynamic situation progresses into the week.

We stand in solidarity and support of those who have been impacted by this disaster and will continue to support our partner Emergency Services and the community during this difficult time.
