South Maroubra

The southern end of Maroubra Beach is slightly less hazardous than the north, and is a popular beach for swimming. A small, near permanent rip at the southern end of the beach is the only major concern for swimmers generally. South Maroubra receives much wave action coming in from the Tasman Sea and can produce some large swells which swimmers should be wary of. The relatively new surf club is located behind the beach and access is through the parkland where there is ample parking in the car park. South Maroubra Surf Club has held the NSW State Championships for the past number of years.
